The journey of finding yourself and who you are meant to be is long and challenging. I went through this roller coaster of trying to figure out myself last year in 2020. We all know that 2020 was filled with many things, most of which were negative. The largest event that took place was COVID-19, starting in the beginning of the year. For me, COVID-19 was a blessing in disguise. I was going through a difficult school year and being forced to stay home during quarantine was something I was happy about. During this time where we were forced to spend endless amounts of time alone with ourselves, I began reflecting on myself. It was difficult to start the process of finding myself, but with the help of journaling and working on qualities that needed refining I was able to value my true self. My zine is about the long and hard journey of finding myself throughout the year of 2020 and all the hardships that came with it. It was challenging to look back and think of specific symbols and experiences that could be tied together to create a composition. I chose to use the symbols of butterflies, which represent transformation, mushrooms, which show how things can grow from bad things, flowers that represent femininity, and many more.
